Halliday, Problem 15.9

Calculate the hydrostatic difference in blood pressure between the brain and the foot in a person of height 1.83 m. The density of blood is 1.06 x 10^3 kg/m^3.

Work:

the pressure change pc = (density ro)*(gravitational constant g)*(height h)
pc = (1.06 x 10^3 kg/m^3)*(9.8 m/s^2)*(1.83 m)
pc = 1.9 x 10^4 Pa
Pa = Pascals

Solution:

pc = 1.9 x 10^4 Pa
